This week I was granted a reprieve from difficult pull list decisions by the comics gods. Why? Mainly because not that much I’m interested in is coming out this week. It may be a light week, but its’ also a week full of WINNERS. Just a quick advance warning, I may turn into a drooling school girl when I talk about a few of these titles.
The day this was announced, I audibly squealed and did a weird finger dance in my office. I can’t even express how excited I am for this title written by Nimona’s Noelle Stephenson. Hopefully there will be shark jokes. But seriously. This title is about a bunch of girls living in a cabin fighting monsters, and looking SO DAMN COOL while they do it. If you don’t believe me, check out the preview here.
According to the description, Shutter is supposed to be the love child between Indiana Jones, Fables, and Y: The Last Man. Plus, it’s written by Joe Keatinge who re-created my beloved Glory. Plus it’s about a lady. Plus plus plus JUST BUY IT OKAY. Okay okay, you don’t have to buy it if ladies, fantasy, and adventure aren’t your thing…buuut why wouldn’t those be your thing?
Okay, this title rounds out the awesome first issues of the week. I honestly have no idea what Nightcrawler’s recent history is – I hear he’s been dead or something. He’s a cool character, Chris Claremont is writing him, and I enjoy non-team titles. I’m willing to take a chance this week to see if it’s any good.
Captain Marvel #2 (ANMN)
This title was on my “maybe” pile for a few issues, but the addition of Rosa to the team (She got sucked through various multiple dimensions before finally finding her way back…naked?) drew me back in. Plus, the cover art continues to be fantastic.
That’s all I have this week – no honorably mentions, no other comics I wish I could buy. Yes, I realize I have now snubbed Darevedevil and Deadpool. Maybe they should be more interesting!
